Meet "Phoenix"
As a self taught artist from the Mississippi Delta, Phoenix's signature art style was crafted by making something dreadfully beautiful out of very little. Although she loved the arts, her academic focus was centered around STEM and public health from an early age. Phoenix went on to study Biology and obtained her Bachelor of Science from Spelman College. After graduating, she worked in the material science industry with a focus on rubber polymers and polyurethane.
Her education background allowed her to independently study the wide array of public health issues that stems from industrious/"blue-collar" work. These issues include but are not limited to behavioral/emotional, physical illness and poor economic growth. Phoenix enrolled at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine to pursue her Masters in Community Health Sciences.
In 2019, she founded The Academy for Exceptional Youth (AEY). AEY is a non-profit organization that aims to assist socio-economically disadvantaged K-2 students with their academics and beyond. After many years of trial and error, she continues to provide help to her local community. To learn more, click here.
