Eyes Without A Face

Eyes Without A Face, 2024

Oil and acrylic on canvas

Concept inspired by Billy Samuels. He mentioned elephants recognize death and respond in a socially meaningful way, especially if a calf dies. Instead of painting death, with elephants surrounding the deceased, I decided to go a new direction. Eyes Without A Face depicts the deceased walking with the elder, not as a shadow or ghost but a member of the pack waiting to return.
